The Isles government has expressed its commitment to accord full cooperation to the whole process of writing the new National Development Vision 2050.
Zanzibar’s Second Vice President (2VP) Hemed Sueiman Abdulla expressed the commitment in Dodoma yesterday, saying Zanzibar government will provide all the necessary support in writing the document.
It was during the climax of the 62nd anniversary of the Tanzania independence in Dodoma yesterday when the Isles leader made the pledge.
The independence celebrations also included thlaunch of the process of writing the National Development Vision 2050 by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
“Independence means freedom- a prerequisite for achieving development goals.
Therefore, we in Zanzibar are ready to provide full support in preparing the document ,” Mr Abdualla said, adding that the United Republic of Tanzania has witnessed more than six decades of steady progress.
Mr Hemed told the audience at the Uhuru an- niversary celebrations in Dodoma that a lot has been achieved in the country during the implementation of the Tanzania Development Vision that expires in 2025, adding that the founders of the nation and the incumbent leaders deserve praise for their exemplary stew- ardship.
Zanzibar government launched its Development Vision 2050 in October 2020.
According to economists, development vision describes what a country desires to achieve in the long-run, generally in a time frame of five to ten years, or sometimes even longer.
“Let us pray for the founding leaders- Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere and Sheikh Abeid Amani Karume for setting up good foundations after independence in both countries, upon which the United Republic of Tanzania was born,” he said.
He also praised the incumbent national leaders President Samia and Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi for achieving success in implementing the current vision that expires in 2025, adding that the planned new vision places human development at the forefront of national planning.
Mr Abdulla explained that Tanzanians are happy with the incumbent national leaders for recording remarkable success ahead of the expiry of the National Development Vision 2025.
Mr Abdullah said President Samia and President Mwinyi have both recorded huge strides in providing services to the public.
Today Tanzanians, to the larger extent, are enjoying access to safe and clean water, education, health, electricity and communication services with life expectancy also im- proving.
“Tanzania is blessed with many things includ- ing a stable government and good leadership, we should be confident that Vision 2050 will give us an opportunity to take our country to greater heights in poverty reduction, economic diversification, technological progress and more,” 2VP said.
He argues that the vision is the document that belongs to all Tanzanians, saying it is the responsibility of all Zanzibaris and leaders to accomplish the objectives set.
He urged all people to accord the necessary support to the taskforce charged with the responsibility of collecting views in preparation for the National Development Vision 2050, “so as to have Tanzania we want for ourselves, our children and future generations.”
