Kenya’s hospitality industry is currently basking in the global limelight, with esteemed brands increasingly establishing roots in the country. This surge underscores Kenya’s burgeoning status as a premier destination for both business and leisure travelers, solidifying its position as a key player in the international tourism arena.

JW Marriott, a distinguished member of Marriott Bonvoy’s extensive portfolio boasting over 30 exceptional hotel brands, has proudly marked its Nairobi debut with the unveiling of JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, its second property in Kenya. Towering as the tallest hotel in the nation, with 35 stories situated in the vibrant Westlands commercial district, JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi promises travelers an unparalleled experience, blending luxury with convenience. The luxury hotel held a grand reception and opening drew a distinguished guest list, including His Excellency President William Ruto.

Other notable government delegation and esteemed members in attendance included Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary; Hon. Dr. Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife; and Hon. Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry. Also, in attendance were luminaries like Nairobi Governor Johnstone Sakaja, Helen Leighton, Vice President of Luxury Brands & Communications at Marriott International for Europe, the Middle East & Africa, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Dr. Zhou Pingjian, Eben Nel, General Manager at JW Marriott, as well as various leaders from the hospitality industry, media personalities, and members of the diplomatic corps and private sector community.

The hotel boasts 315 elegantly appointed guestrooms, complemented by five diverse dining venues offering international cuisines, a luxurious Spa by JW, a refreshing swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, and eight versatile event spaces for various gatherings and celebrations. Drawing inspiration from Kenya’s captivating landscapes and rich heritage, the hotel’s interior design, masterfully crafted by George Wong, immerses guests in the spirit of an African adventure. Embracing earthy tones reminiscent of the savannah, vibrant Maasai reds, cultural terracotta, and lush safari greens adorn the spaces, creating a harmonious blend of modern luxury and traditional charm.

These carefully curated elements introduce a new standard of opulence to the city, providing intentional spaces that invite guests to immerse themselves in the essence of Africa while indulging in the comforts of a contemporary urban retreat. Throughout the property, a curated collection of unique artworks, including sculptures, handmade ceramics, wall murals, and regional textiles, narrates the captivating story of Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes, enriching the guest experience with a profound sense of place and culture.

Speaking at the event, H.E. President Ruto heralded the debut of JW Marriott Nairobi, emphasizing its significance as an iconic and award-winning multinational hotel establishment in Kenya. He underscored that the presence of JW Marriott Hotel in the country signifies the positive outcome of Kenya’s persistent efforts to create a facilitative business climate. He reiterated the government’s commitment to nurturing a favorable business atmosphere and facilitating both local and foreign investments, thereby fostering economic prosperity across the nation.

JW Marriott is a tribute to the founder of Marriott International, J. Willard “J.W.” Marriott, who prioritized his own well-being so that he could take better care of others. Inspired by his approach to life and rooted in holistic well-being, JW Marriott properties offer a haven designed to allow guests to focus on feeling whole – present in mind, nourished in body, and revitalized in spirit – through programs and offerings that encourage them to come together and experience every moment to the fullest.
