Belarus, South Africa interested in joint projects to assemble machines, equipment


Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Denis Meleshkin met with Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Alvin Botes of South Africa. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to Russia and concurrently to Belarus Mzuvukile Jeff Maqetuka, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI).

The parties discussed the promising areas for the development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarusian companies and the Republic of South Africa, the interaction between the BelCCI and partner organizations in South Africa to assist the business of the two countries in building a dialogue. The prospects for organizing the exchange of delegations and holding business events were examined too.

Alvin Botes noted that during his visit to Belarus, his delegation visited a number of enterprises and organizations, got acquainted with the production and logistics capabilities of the country. In his view, promising are joint projects to assemble machinery and equipment, to make use of R&D of Belarusian scientists for renewable energy projects (in particular, solar panels and hydropower) and cooperation in logistics, information technology and telecommunications, mining and processing of minerals and gas.
