Ukraine is waiting for “a long, very difficult war with heavy losses”, the only alternative is diplomacy. This opinion was expressed by the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, in an interview with the Washington Post.
Asked if Ukraine could win, Milley said it would “require significant effort in the future” and a long time frame.
“It will take a lot, a lot of time. But you can also achieve these goals, perhaps through some diplomatic means,” the general said.
At the same time, in his opinion, it is still too early to talk about negotiations.
“This counteroffensive has not yet exhausted itself. So we have to see how it all ends, and then move on,” Milli said.
The general also said that the United States provided Ukraine with a lot of equipment, ammunition, “enormous military assistance.”
“We provided them with the right amount of equipment at the right time to achieve the goals they needed at the moment,” he added.
Recall that Ukraine demands more weapons from the West and explains their lack of slow counteroffensive in the south of the country.
