The Nairobi County Multi-Sectoral Coordination and Collaboration Forum on Peace and Security has officially been launched. This initiative seeks to enhance peace and security in the region by bringing together diverse stakeholders.
The forum, spearheaded by Midrift Hurinet in collaboration with the Interior Ministry, aims to activate peace and security committees at regional, county, and sub-county levels. Nairobi County Commissioner David Wanyonyi highlighted its importance in addressing the county’s unique challenges.
Midrift Executive Director Joseph Omondi emphasized that standard operating procedures will be established to guide the committees. These guidelines will ensure structured and effective coordination among all participants.
The forum integrates key groups, including Nyumba Kumi leaders, youth, women, the private sector, and peacekeepers, providing a platform for collective dialogue on peace and security issues.
By combining diverse perspectives and resources—whether human or financial—the initiative seeks to create sustainable solutions for maintaining safety and harmony in Nairobi.
