Nairobi Governor Sakaja Unveils Plans for Road Upgrades

Nairobi residents will face traffic jams as road renovations begin soon. Governor Sakaja announced that major roads, including those near the CBD, Jogoo Road, Juja Road, and Uhuru Highway, will be affected.

The roadworks will cover areas like Westlands, Kilimani, Kileleshwa, and Upper Hill. This follows a meeting with key officials from transport and road agencies.

Sakaja confirmed that the project will involve both national and county roads, requiring collaboration between agencies. The goal is to streamline construction and address road issues.

The governor also mentioned completing stalled projects under NMS and KURA, aiming to improve Nairobi’s infrastructure and ease congestion.

Residents have long complained about potholes, drainage issues, and poor lighting. The new roadworks aim to resolve these problems, with recent increases in the road levy to fund improvements.
