Ethiopia and Italy Agree to Foster Cooperation in Education Sector

Ethiopia and Italy officials agreed to enhance their working relations in the General and Higher education sectors.

Education Minister Birhanu Nega (Prof) and his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Valditara signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday. The two sides are expected to establish strategic cooperation both in the General and Higher education sectors, the MoE says.

At the Signing ceremony, Birhanu highlighted the reform activities in the education sector. In line with that, the Minister noted the efforts made to provide equitable education to citizens regardless of their financial background.

Italy’s Minister of Education and Merit Valditara on his part has expressed keen interest to cooperate with Ethiopia’s Education ministry.

The fields identified for collaboration by the minister involve Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), language, culture, and student and teacher exchange programs.
